What would YOU do if you were the Prime Minister?

We have been talking lots about the election in Year 2. We have been thinking about what an election is, how an election works, and what the point is. The children in 2JS have lots of great ideas about what they would like to do it they were the in charge. Here are some of their ideas.

Can you write some of your ideas down as comments?

You can see a big version of the Voicethread here.

Riddles in 2JS

Today we began to write riddles in our class. Here is the beginning of one we wrote as a class.

It’s not finished yet. If you are in 2JS, can you add some more lines as comments? Remember – don’t give it away!

Can you guess what it is yet?

What am I?

I look as soft as a sheep’s furry coat, but don’t be fooled.
My trunk is hard as a tree but smooth as an elephant’s tusk.
If I get too hot my flesh begins to soften and my blood starts to flow.
You might eat me for the goodness inside.

Frère Jacques by 2JS

We sang Frère Jacques for the first time today. Can you believe it? We have been learning a bit of French, and 2JS’ exceptional singing is coming in handy! Let us know what you think. Well done too to our steady-cam operator… Filming is quite an art!

I have to say that I’m hugely impressed with my class this year. They are so lovely! Well done 2JS.

Planet Earth – Non Chronological reports by 2JS

In the past few weeks, 2JS have been researching information about our planet. They have used a wide range of books as well as the internet to find out interesting and important facts, as well as pictures to illustrate their reports. They had to choose their own sub-headings and write other features of a non-chronological report including glossaries. They used Microsoft Publisher for the first time to put their reports together. What do you think?

The children worked independently on their posters, and were not helped with their spellings, the content or how they chose to set them out. What makes them easy or more difficult to read? What information would YOU put onto your own poster? 2JS Class assembly

We did it! One week until the summer holidays, but weren’t the children great! I am really proud of all of the children in my class, and really sad that they will be leaving on their own voyage into Year 3. Good luck 2JS!

Please tell us what you think of our assembly. What were your favourite bits? What could have been better?
If the video keeps stopping and starting, it is worth “buffering” it for a few minutes first. Press play, then press pause and wait a minute or two. This lets the video load up a bit before you start playing it.

2JS Class assembly ideas. What do you think?

2JS are doing a class assembly in a few weeks. We have been reading Terry Jones’ excellent book Eric The Viking. We are going to try using Voicethread to come up with our own exciting chapter which we can write together and then perform. This is the first step.
Top tip – remember everyone in 2JS needs to be able to join in, so how could we get lots of characters involved?

What should the basic story be? Don’t forget to include the settings, characters, problems and solutions…

Welcome to 2JS

Tell us what you are all about 2JS. Remember not to leave any information about where you live, your second name or any other information which would make it easy to find you. Well done to Usamah for filming. The Flip camera is our new toy!
