Today we looked at our writing in lots of detail. We were checking some recent work and looking for things like how well we used dialogue, description and punctuation. We thought about whether our writing made sense, and whether we were joining our letters.
To help with this, we swapped books and looked at each others’ work too. Was it useful? What do you need to improve in your writing? Leave a comment.
Here are our finished scripts. Each child in each group chose a colour for themselves to help them remember which is their part. They are practicing their parts over the weekend, and we will begin to record them on Monday. Does the story make sense?
What do you think of their hard work?
Group 10 from our storyboard project are VERY good writers. However, they didn’t quite get to the end of the story today…
Can you help them to finish off? Can you suggest some interesting descriptive sentences or some exciting dialogue? Leave a comment with your ideas please.
Here are the first 7 examples of writing done in 2JS this week. These are part of our storyboard project (see the post below). I think the children did a fantastic job working in their groups of three. They came up with imaginative, interesting, and clever ways to tell their part of the story.
We have been thinking about credits for our film. Credits are the bit at the end which tell you who made the film. They are usually pretty boring, but not in 2JS! We have designed beautiful backgrounds which we want to use. Each group will have their own picture with a photograph of them with their group in it.
It is YOUR job to vote for your favourite for each group. Just click on the voting pad and click “vote” for each group.
Here are a few photographs from our Library Theatre trip. As you can see we were a little bit excited. We all had a great time and the children were fantastic.
Well done year2. Miss Douglas.
Today we looked at Tony Ross’ version of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”. The wolf isn’t so mean in this version. This is what Palvasha thinks he might say if he was to explain himself:
I am nice but people dont see it.I am so sad that my parents are dead.I am sad because i have no family and i am so sad about that.I am very cross with the villagers because the villagers killed my wolf family.I want to kill them and see if they like it.
Kate wrote some brilliant descriptive sentences today about the character of Harry from Tony Ross’ version of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”. If you haven’t read it, Harry (the boy who cries “Wolf!”) is pretty mean and silly. This is what Kate has to say about him. Click on the little picture for the full version.
What could Kate improve? Remember to be a critical friend – tell her what you like, then tell her something she could improve in a nice way!
In the past few weeks, 2JS have been researching information about our planet. They have used a wide range of books as well as the internet to find out interesting and important facts, as well as pictures to illustrate their reports. They had to choose their own sub-headings and write other features of a non-chronological report including glossaries. They used Microsoft Publisher for the first time to put their reports together. What do you think?
The children worked independently on their posters, and were not helped with their spellings, the content or how they chose to set them out. What makes them easy or more difficult to read? What information would YOU put onto your own poster?
