Can you use simile to describe this scene?

Take a look at this beautiful bluebell wood. Can you use simile to describe the different things you can see? How would you feel if you were there? How would the wood smell? Could you describe the bluebells in an interesting way?

Riddles in Year 2

This week in Literacy we are looking at riddles. We will be writing our own later on in the week.

A riddle is a word puzzle. The type of riddles we will be writing about will get the person reading to guess “what am I?” Here is a riddle written by JRR Tolkien (who also wrote The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings) Can you work out what it is?

I cannot be seen, cannot be felt
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.
I lie behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes
I fill.
I come first and follows after,
End life, kill laughter.

Write your ideas as a comment.

Why not write your own riddle and leave it as a post?

Here are two videos of children reading their poems. What do you think? Some others were recorded, but there was lots of noise in the background and it was hard to hear them. We will re-record them so don’t worry if your poem isn’t here yet!
