Spring Poetry from 2JS

Posted by Mr Sloan on 23rd March 2010

Last week in Literacy we wrote some beautiful poems about spring flowers. We looked, touched and smelled the flowers, describing them carefully. We tried to use some tools like simile and alliteration. Can you spot any? Please let us know what you think.
If the recordings keep pausing, press pause and wait for it to buffer – about 20 seconds should do it, then you can listen uninterrupted.

Can you use simile to describe this scene?

Posted by Mr Sloan on 10th March 2010

Take a look at this beautiful bluebell wood. Can you use simile to describe the different things you can see? How would you feel if you were there? How would the wood smell? Could you describe the bluebells in an interesting way?

As we are doing lots of poetry this week, why not look at some of these great resources. Lots of recordings, videos and information about poetry. You could post your own poems as comments!

Next week we will be writing our own poems about nature. Here are some great examples of nature poems:

I particularly like Seashell by James Berry. What do you like and why?

Posted by year2 on 9th March 2009

We  have  been  learning  about  poems. To  do a  recurd to put on the  blog. Some of  us have the same  poem some  have difront poems. I found my poem easy to learn. BY Olivia

Here are two videos of children reading their poems. What do you think? Some others were recorded, but there was lots of noise in the background and it was hard to hear them. We will re-record them so don’t worry if your poem isn’t here yet!
