This week in history we have been learning about Mary Seacole. I have started to make a timeline about the events in her life. So far, I’ve only added when she was born. Can you think of some other interesting things we could add?
Why not look at some of these interesting sources for ideas?
Information about Mary Seacole from the BBC
Mary Seacole information from Wikipedia
Poem about Mary Seacole by David Neita
Or why not watch this film about Mary Seacole? It’s quite grown-up but really interesting!

Mary’s mum helped people in a hotel when they were poorly.
Mary used her doll to practice on.
When she was older the hotel blowup.
She was married in 1836 the man was called Edwin he fell ill but Mary nursed him.
After that Mary was a real docter.
Then she went to panama to see her brother.
Toget to panama you have to pass the caribbean sea
Mary’s brother owned a hotel.
In the town there were no docters so Mary went to help.
Soon Mary fell ill but everyone needed her.
She went back to london on the news there was fighting in the crimea.

The roads on Coll are all single lane with passing places, although there is one 10m (yes, 10m as in metre, not mile) stretch of dual-carriageway near the top of the island!. Whilst driving is usually free of hassle, please remember that locals sometimes need to travel a bit faster than sightseeing speeds.
Please use passing places to allow others to overtake
