First we played with some playdough that Mr Sloan had made using flour, salt, water and oil. We described it carefully. Can you remember some of the words we used to describe it? Leave them as comments to this post.
.
Next we used cornflour and water to make a very different type of dough. It was very strange! Can you describe the properties of the cornflour dough? Here we are exploring it…
We have been learning a lot about electricity this half term. Why not leave a Voicethread comment about what you have learned? What would you still like to know? Click here for a bigger version of the Voicethread.
As part of our Big Question this half term, we have been thinking about how we use energy. We have learned about how plants and animals get their energy, and where it originally came from. We have also been learning about what will happen to our planet if we continue to waste energy.
Can anyone explain a bit more about what we have been learning about?
How could you save energy in your life?
You might like to try this activity. It will help you to understand how much carbon dioxide you release in your home. You will need an adult to help you answer some of the questions.
In the past few weeks, 2JS have been researching information about our planet. They have used a wide range of books as well as the internet to find out interesting and important facts, as well as pictures to illustrate their reports. They had to choose their own sub-headings and write other features of a non-chronological report including glossaries. They used Microsoft Publisher for the first time to put their reports together. What do you think?
The children worked independently on their posters, and were not helped with their spellings, the content or how they chose to set them out. What makes them easy or more difficult to read? What information would YOU put onto your own poster?
Year 2 have been working on making their own “non-chronological reports” about Planet Earth. The children have been researching and reading, both on the internet and in books, the things which they think are interesting about our planet. The finished reports will appear on the blog in the next few days, but here is a taster.
On Friday 8th May Zoolab came to Chorlton Park Primary School. They brought lots of animals with them.
First we saw a Giant African Land Snail. Next there was a toad which was really bumpy and lumpy. Then we saw a corn snake that was smooth and soft. Finally we got to stroke a furry and soft gerbil.
As well as looking at the animals and learning about their habitats, we got to hold and touch the animals.
We really enjoyed our visit. Jess from Zoolab was brilliant and fantastic at explaining about the animals. Thank you Jess.
Please add comments here about what you thought of our visit. Try to add some interesting description.
