3d storyboards complete in 2JS

Wow! What a lot of hard work we have all done in the last few weeks. Today we finally finished and photographed our storyboards which means that we can start editing our film tomorrow in literacy. We don’t want to give too much away before our film premiere on Friday, but here’s a sneak peak at our storyboards without the characters… I am incredibly proud of the work which 2JS have been doing. Well done!

Can you see the characters perched up on out whiteboard too? It looks as though they all sorted out their differences in the end!

Storyboards completed in 2HD

We have been busy bees this week and our stories, storyboards and recorded stories are completed. All the children have worked extremely well in their groups and I’m very proud of all of you. Come and have a look at the finished products. If anyone has any ideas about making the characters please let us know. Miss Douglas

Video production in Year 2. Jobs for the week…

film spoolk
This week, our mission is to finish our Jack and the Beanstalk video project. There is still a lot to do, but we hope that all the people who visit our blog will help and support us in the next five days.

So. This is what we need to do:

  1. Rehearse our scripts and work on expression, character voices and clarity.
  2. Record our scripts using voice recorders.
  3. Photograph our stage sets.
  4. Import the voice recordings and photos into Microsoft Moviemaker.
  5. Sequence the story and edit the eudio.
  6. Add credits and titles to our videos.
  7. Publish our videos and upload them to the blog using Vimeo.

Once we have done all of this, we will probably need a weekend… In the last week of half term we will be evaluating our work. Stay tuned!

Jack and the Beanstalk – What are we up to in 2JS?

We have been VERY busy in the last couple of weeks. We have been working hard in groups of three on our big project for the half term. So how does it all work?

  • First we split the story of Jack and the Beanstalk into 10 parts. Each group of three children took a part of the story.
  • In our groups we are doing lots of drama, art and talking about the story, about the characters and about the settings. We have been thinking especially about the reasons why different characters behaved in the way that they did – why did Jack’s mum send Jack to sell the cow and not go herself? Why does the old woman live with the Giant? Who is the old man who gives Jack the magic beans?
  • We designed stage sets which we are now making into 3d story-boards. You can see how far we have got at the in the photos above.
  • We are also writing scripts in our groups. We are thinking about the section of the story that we have designed, and are trying to include lots of detail, description and interesting words. You can see some of our writing here Group 1 Group 2 Group 3 Group 5
  • Our next jobs are to practice reading our scripts, deciding on who will take on which roles. We will record ourselves next week.
  • We need to photograph our finished boxes, complete with characters that we will make.
  • Finally we will put it all together into a film which we will put on the blog… Keep checking!

What do you think of our work? What do you like? What could we improve on?
